New kitchen-lamps

Finally we can see what we are cooking! Got these Caravaggio pendant-lamps in Denmark last summer, in the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Summer by Selander

Photo: Magnus Selander

Usually I love living in Norway beacuse of the changing seasons: the (sometimes) warm summers and the crisp, white winters. Maybe it´s because I have a cold and because the bump makes it harder to go skiing (and because the baby´s ETA is this spring), but this year I just cant´t wait for warmer weather. If you feel the same way: have a look at Swedish photographer Magnus Selander´s great summer pics ...ahhh!

Interiors by Holtum

Some inspirational pictures by Danish photographer Morten Holtum. You might have seen them in the blogosphere before, but they are well worth a second look.

Wish I had the fireplace in the top picture in my cabin, that would make it easier to stay there at this time of year.

It´s - 18 C in Oslo now, and I have a cold... While waiting for summer and more nice summer houses: enjoy this beautiful home north of Copenhagen. Read more here.

Romantic alpine cottage

Photo: Livingetc

An alpine coattage in the French Alps, maybe a little more suitable for Norway in January than our summer cabin?

From Livingetc: "Louise and Paul Venning moved from south London to the French Alps with their children Nuala and Kealan 4 years ago in search of a more relaxed pace of life. Nestled under a blanket of snow, the 3-bed chalet boasts a surprisingly fresh interior, with whitewashed walls and modern kitchen."

"New" lamp from the old owners

Photo: My Scandinavian Retreat

Over Christmas, we also fixed this old lamp over the dining table. We got it from the last owner, we just had to remove some vegetable-stickers (?) and get a new cord (a stoffledning, don´t know the English word for it?). We ordered the cord from this danish site.

The beautiful old table is from my grandmother, Liv. We got the black and white photo by American Bob Robinson, called Boy in Fjord, from osloart. It was taken in a Norwegian fjord sometimes in the 50ies.

Have a look at the before-pictures to see the how the lamp used to be.

A bed with a view

Photo: My Scandinavian Retreat

Look at the view from our bed! My handy man built this bed in a few hours last weekend. The bed is pretty tall, so that we can wake up to enjoy the view - and get storage-room. Now it just needs a handle/lock of some kind and a little paint. And we need curtains, a bedspread and a higher night stand...

Baby news with Eriksson photos

Have a look at this nice Scandinavian home of Swedish photographer Mari Eriksson, discovered through eco-stylista.

I especially like the nursery... I promise I won´t turn this blog into one of those child-interior-blogs, but we´re having a baby this spring (!) - so I´ve started looking for ways to decorate the baby´s room.

Happy new year from the cabin!

Photo: My Scandinavian Retreat

Me and my handy man enjoyed a few (cold) days in our summer cabin this holiday - working with the daybed amongst other things. Look how nice it turned out! We still have a few things left, like pillowcases and painting of the shelves, but it works just fine.
This is what inspired us to make the daybed in the first place. Thank you!

We´ve also bought this Ikea-chair, maybe not a beauty - but very comfortable (see how my handy man relax in it)!

Happy new year everyone! I haven´t been a very good blogger lately, to much happening in real life, but I promise to do better in 2010.
